About Us
The Courage Project consists of a group of Stanford students intent on spreading their enthusiasm for heroism and service. The project started off with just a couple of students wanting to do something meaningful. Yet we had all done the typical community service activities, and however fulfilling they had been, we yearned for something bigger, something that reached further than the clinic that we volunteered at or the underprivileged children that we tutored. We found this opportunity in the Courage Project. In the Courage Project, we aim to find more of those service oriented activities that bring us so much satisfaction and share them with the rest of the world, so that they too can taste the joy that comes from serving others. We want to target courageous and compassionate people and give them an outlet for their energy that is only a phone call or website away.
About Our Website
We work under the assumption that there are others out there who have the desire to do something courageous. However, when people feel this urge, it is so often quelled by short lived and self serving courageous acts such as skydiving or bungee jumping. We believe that if we can harness this urge, we can utilize it for good causes. We have listed on our website 7 areas in which one can act heroically in so that we can cater most to your interests: Human Rights, Journalism, Legal Heroism, NGO's, Transplantation, Vaccination, and Well Leveraged Medical Research. Under each area there is some background information on the topic, opportunities that pertain to the area, and profiles of people who have performed courageous acts. The information displayed on this website is obtained by intensive research on the web and in relevant books.
